Searching for the Dragon
“At the start of every day, before the work of mining begins, the entire tribe comes together in a large, usually rough-hewn and unfinished community hall. Each kobold chooses a place on the floor, closes his or her eyes, and casts the mind inward, embracing the wellspring of kobold heritage. The silence and stillness of a tribal meditation is awe-inspiring. One can hear drafts blowing in the empty tunnels and an unattended fire crackling in the distance.
The daily meditation lasts for at least 15 minutes and is known as Searching for the Dragon. Sorcerers prepare themselves to cast spells, and nonsorcerers take advantage of this time to be alone with their thoughts. Those who undertake the Draconic Rite of Passage find that the Searching for the Dragon ritual is a vital part of their daily lives.”
-Races of the Dragon 42-43
Kobold parties away from their tribes perform the Searching for the Dragon meditation after waking but before breaking camp. This is a restful meditation that ends the rest period and does not count against downtime for rest and sleep purposes. A solitary kobold may perform the ritual by himself, but usually doesn’t unless they have completed the Draconic Rite of Passage.
